MRE 3014 - DESIGN AESTHETICS After 10 weeks of lessons, this is the last post about subject MRE 3014 - DESIGN AESTHETICS. REPORT DESIGNING Assignment 1 is name as "Unfold the Beauty of Tanjong Malim". Dr. Tan asked us to make an assignment by going to the Tanjong Malim town and find product that satisfy the characteristics that given to us. Before go to the Tg. Malim town, we need to make a rubric. Rubric is a table that consist of element and characteristic that will use to evaluate the product. We make a rubric by referring Dr. Tan lesson and internet. After making a rubric, we went to the consultation session with our lecturer Dr. Tan to know what and where is the mistake about our rubric.  After consult with Dr. Tan, we know that our rubric have mistakes and need to amend. PRINCIPLE OF PLEASURE IN DESIGN Before start the class, Dr. Tan reminds about project proposal that should be done in google docs. The project proposal is the report based on the rubric result. (Unfold the beauty of Tanjung Malim assignment). Dr. Tan also reminds about mid-term quiz. Today, Dr. Tan teach about PRINCIPLE OF PLEASURE IN DESIGN - Occurs when human beings achieve their aims by altering or changing subjective world. - This principle is suggested by Paul Hekkert on 2016 Paulus Petrus Maria Hekkert  is a Dutch professor  shape theory  at the  Faculty of  Industrial Design  Delft University of Technology.  As head of the Design Aesthetics section he investigates sensory perception and emotional experience of products. ARE YOU DESIGNER? Before start the class, Dr. Tan reminds us about learning journal - Blog. He said blog is the way to remember and revise the lesson that have learned.  Dr. Tan said, human memory is limited. It will last for 3-4 hours only. After that moment/ period, human will lost half of the memory of what have learned. Dr. Tan said, he went to the talk by the Cambridge  Vice-Chancellor,  Sir Leszek Krzysztof Borysiewicz. T he title of the talk is : UNIVERSITIES & THEIR ROLE IN AN ERA OF GLOBAL CHALLENGE During the talk, Sir Leszek said the voice of expert now is not the main source of knowledge.  Based on the research done in UK, people in UK trust: 1. WHO IS A GRAPHIC DESIGNER? A  graphic designer  is a professional within the  graphic design  and  graphic arts  industry who assembles together images,  typography , or motion graphics to create a piece of design.  https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphic_designer   Dr. Tan taught us about being a designer. To be a good designer, we must know how to change consumers behavior. For example, as designer, we can promote people not to use fur in making cloth. This is the way to save animal.
