Before start the class, Dr. Tan reminds us about learning journal - Blog. He said blog is the way to remember and revise the lesson that have learned.  Dr. Tan said, human memory is limited. It will last for 3-4 hours only. After that moment/ period, human will lost half of the memory of what have learned.



Dr. Tan said, he went to the talk by the Cambridge Vice-Chancellor, Sir Leszek Krzysztof Borysiewicz. The title of the talk is :

UNIVERSITIES & THEIR ROLE IN AN ERA OF GLOBAL CHALLENGE



During the talk, Sir Leszek said the voice of expert now is not the main source of knowledge. Based on the research done in UK, people in UK trust:

1. Family and friends
2. Social media
3. Knowledge expert


Back to the class, Dr. Tan said designer world class should know the global design issues. By knowing the issues, designer will doing world class design.

Dr. Tan said, before design school invent, design and art was tough by expert in in certain skill field. After 1st world war, first school of art is invented and open to public. Bauhaus art school is 1st school that teach design in systematic way. This is the beginning of how design is teach in better ways.

 Dr. Tan said, bangunan Tadahan Utara, Tadahan Selatan & Muzium UPSI are gazetted as Warisan Nasional.The building cannot be demolished or over renovate. It will damage the originality of the building. Furthermore, it will need high cost because it will use expert person.

ASSESSMENT METHODS IN DESIGN AESTHETICS During Design Aesthetic class that lectured by Dr Tan, he taught about Assessment Method in Design Aesthetic. There are two ways of learning design : Approach 1 : Tabula Rasa by John Locke Approach 2 : Americanism or Pragmatism Approach 1  TABULA RASA by JOHN LOCKE John Locke is an English philosopher and political theorist (1632-1704).
